Joyce Oates
Joyce C. Oates, age 89, of
Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Orchard Manor
Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on February 25, 1927, in
Milwaukee, the daughter of John "Pat" and Marguerite (Ryan) Murphy.
Joyce graduated from Kenosha High School in 1944. On February 23,
1946, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Oates in Kenosha. They
resided in Bloomington and raised a family. Joyce worked for
Bloomington High School as the secretary to superintendents for over 25
years. Charles and Joyce owned and operated Oates Hatchery in
Bloomington, until 1988. After retirement, the couple enjoyed
wintering in Florida and leisure time at their cabin at Jays Landing in
Bagley. Joyce was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Bloomington and enjoyed knitting and reading.
Survivors include her three children: Burnell
(Marilyn) Oates; Clay (Lona) Oates; Denise (Rick Halverson) Oates; five
grandchildren: Julie (Ghanie) Habeeb; Steve (Jessica) Oates; Amanda
(Troy) Hansen; Christy Oates; Jon Oates; seven great-grandchildren; a
brother, Tom Murphy; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Charles,
Joyce was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Burnell Oates.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Patricia Okey
Patricia "Pat" J. Okey, age 84, of
Cassville, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her home under the care of her
family and Grant County Hospice. She was born on March 29, 1932 in
Sheboygan, WI, the daughter of Harvey & Antoinette (LeMahieu) Gibbons.
Pat married Lynn A. Okey on June 13, 1955.
After getting married and moving to Cassville, Pat was
primarily a homemaker raising four children. She also worked as a
teacher and substitute teacher in the Cassville Public School System.
She volunteered many hours as a scorekeeper for both the wrestling and track
and field teams. After Lynn's retirement, they both continued to be
involved in the track and field program as scorekeeper and official starter.
She had a passion for scouting and was a den mother for several years.
Pat loved to travel and visit relatives. She especially enjoyed her
summer visits to the family cottage on Lake Michigan.
Pat is survived by her son, Kent, Cassville; her
daughters, Ann (Henry) Gerth, Winona, MN, Kay Okey, Minneapolis, MN, and
Sandra (Chris) Ott, Fontana, WI; grandsons, Philip (Cooper) Ott, Crested
Butte, CO, and Zachary Ott, Marquette, MI; two brothers, Wesley (Joan), and
Donald (Bobette) Gibbons; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Darlene) Okey; and many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn in 2006;
and her parents.
Funeral Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday,
October 7, 2016, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev.
Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery.
Friends called from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the
funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, donations are preferred
to the Cassville Rescue Squad.
Marie C. Olson
Marie C. Olson, age 80, passed away
surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at her home.
She was born on July 9, 1936, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel
(Weimer) Schildgen. Marie graduated from Lancaster High
School in 1953. On August 29, 1953, she was united in
marriage to Larry L. Drew at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.
Marie was employed at the Richgels Insurance Agency, Olson
Refrigeration, and later, at Pioneer Motors. Larry
preceded her in death in 1998. On May 24, 2000, Marie
married Robert C. "Bob" Olson, Sr. at St. Clement Catholic Church in
Lancaster. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic
Church. In retirement, Marie enjoyed her winters with Bob
in Florida. She also enjoyed playing cards and keeping up
with her family and their activities.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Olson; her
children: Diane (John) Heinrichs; David (Deb), Dennis
(Sandy), Dean (Cheryl) Drew; Denise (Kevin) Wiest; Donita (Chad) Evans; and
Debra (Chuck) Lange; the Olson family: Robert (Sherree) Olson, Jr.; Terry
(Susan) Olson; Diane (John) Drew; Kevin (Cathy), Kelly (Joanne), and Jeff
Olson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister: Sally (Joe)
Langkamp; a brother, Gerald Schildgen; many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Larry; a son-in-law, James Dean; brother, Joseph (Druscilla "Fuzzy")
Schildgen; a daughter-in-law, LouAnn Olson; brother-in-law, Elmer Fenzau;
sister-in-law, Florence Schildgen.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 7, 2017, at
10:30 a.m. at St., Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial
was in St. Clement
Cemetery. Family and friends called on Friday, January
6, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church and on Saturday from
9:30 a.m., until time of services at the church. In lieu
of plants and flowers, a Marie C. Olson Memorial Fund has been established.

Eugene O'Neil
Eugene Daniel "Fritz" O'Neil passed away peacefully on
Saturday, December 5, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Fritz was born on June 22, 1932, in Cataract, WI, the son
of Daniel and Hazel (Heineck) O'Neill. He was united in marriage to Marlene
(Peterson) O'Neil on September 16, 1952. During their 43 years of marriage they
raised six children.
Fritz enjoyed a long and successful career as a meat cutter
at a number of grocery stores until his retirement. He served in the Wisconsin
Army National Guard for eight years. He was a proud veteran and a member of the
Richard Burns American Legion Post #109.
He was an all-star baseball player "back in the day" and
coached little league for a number of years. He loved to play cards, bowl, hunt
and fish and to the delight of Marlene, dance.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, parents
Daniel and Hazel; a brother Elmer; and his son Larry (survived by wife Lori).
Fritz is survived by his longtime companion Marie Wiest,
his children Steve (Roxanne); Pamela (Jerry) Heins; Donna (Michael) Haberlie;
Patrick (Paula); Jennifer (Scott) Simonis; as well as many grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 9,
2015, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend
John Sasse officiating. Burial with military honors was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called
on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Larry O'Neil
Larry E. Beagle ONeil, age 60, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on November 26, 1952, in Sparta, the son of Eugene Fritz and Marlene (Peterson) ONeil. Larry graduated from Lancaster High School in 1970. On May 7, 1983, he was united in marriage to Lori Axtell at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster. Larry has been employed with Kane Roofing & Siding for over forty years. He enjoyed bowling and was the second person in Lancaster history to score a 300 game at Fireball Lanes. Larry also enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, and built birdhouses, furniture and anything requested by his family. He dearly loved his family and his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; children: Kelly (David) Behrens; Logan (Nathalie Schattner) ONeil; Brittany (Michael Wallace) ONeil; four grandchildren: Matthew, Marrissa, Taylor, and Baylie; his father, Eugene Fritz ONeil; his father and mother-in-law, Bill (Barb) Axtell; brothers: Steve (Roxanne); Pat (Paula) ONeil; sisters: Pam (Jerry) Heins; Donna (Mike Haberlie) ONeil; Jen (Scott) Simonis; sister-in-law, Brenda Taylor and her family Jason Taylor, Michael Taylor and his son, Bryce; and Nicole (Chad) Yaun and their children, Payton and Mason; a brother-in-law, Bart Axtell; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene.

David
O. Olson
David O. Red Olson, age 88,
of Cassville, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home,
with his son, Davin, by his side. He was born on
February 10, 1926, the son of Morris and Olga (Sether) Olson.
He graduated from Dodgeville High School.
Red enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country
until his honorable discharge. He was employed
with the Alliant Energy Power Plant in Cassville until his
retirement in 1990. In his earlier years, Red
enjoyed playing several musical instruments in a band. He also
enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as reading and listening to Hank
Williams. Red loved to talk, tell stories, visit
with family and would lend a helping hand to anyone.
He also enjoyed machining and could make just about anything.
He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
Reds family was very important to him. It
was because of his grandson, Dillon, that Red was able to spend his
last few months at home.
Survivors include his children:
Beverly Olson, Richland Center; James (Toni) Olson, Richland
Center; John (Karen) Olson, Highland; Melanie (Bob) Johnson,
Richland Center; Darvin Olson, Richland Center; Davin Shrev

In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in
death by his brother, Lute and his sister, Ruby.

Mary J. Olson, age 52, of Platteville, died Friday,
December 26, 2008 at her home in Platteville. She was born on
July 2, 1956, the daughter of Keith and Margaret Young in

She was preceded in death by her father and a her sister.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at First English Church in Platteville with the Reverend Michael Short and Intern Kalen Barkholtz officiating. Family and friends were welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date. Dean
Ostendorf
Dean I. Ostendorf, age 86, of Platteville, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at the Southwest Health Center in Platteville from Alzheimers disease. Dean was born on July 1, 1927 in Smelser Township, WI, a son of William F. & Katherine A. (Schultz) Ostendorf. He married Joan Trentz on October 22, 1955 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Platteville.
Dean left Platteville High School after completing his sophomore year. He worked by helping farmers, and also worked at the Dubuque Packing Company. In 1944 Dean joined the Merchant Marines. He sailed the seas until October, 1950. Then in January of 1951, Dean was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a surgical technician in Germany until he was discharged in December of 1952. His employment upon discharge was with Williams Tree Service for twenty years. At that time, Dean purchased the business and continued until September, 1989.
In retirement, and even prior to that, Dean enjoyed a cabin in Fifield, WI. He loved to fish and deer hunt, and also enjoyed racing his boat. Dean was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post #42, VFW Post #5274, and a retired fifteen year veteran of the Platteville Fire Department.
Dean is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan of Platteville; three sons, Michael, Patrick (Jennifer), both of Platteville, and Thomas of Janesville; two daughters, Susan Buck of Cross Plains, and Lisa, at home in Platteville; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, William of Willow Springs, MO; a sister, Joyce Austin of Monroe; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 am on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Platteville, with Fr. Faustino Ruiz officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends called from 9 am until the time of service Saturday at the church. Alexius "Alex" M. Osterhaus
Alexius Alex M. Osterhaus, age 93, of Bloomington, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on April 13, 1918, in Iowa, the son of Henry and Cecelia (Klosterman) Osterhaus. Alex attended school at St. Marys Catholic School in Bloomington. He helped build St. Marys Catholic Church also in Bloomington. On June 6, 1942, Alex was united in marriage to Hildegarde Sis Felder at St. Marys Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple farmed in Bloomington Township. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling following their retirement. Alex enjoyed carpentry work and woodworking. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of his greatest joys.
Survivors include his six children: Ken (Kandi) Osterhaus, Cedar Rapids, IA; Joan (Dennis) Bierman, Glen Haven; William (Terri) Osterhaus, Belmont, MA; Virginia (Louis) Pohle, San Antonio, TX; James Osterhaus, Madison; and Mary (Don) Alcorn, Lancaster; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Irene Osterhaus, Bloomington; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Tommy, two grandsons, Danny Osterhaus and David Bierman, and his brothers and sisters.

Irene Osterhaus
Irene R. Osterhaus, age 95, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at her daughter's home in Waukesha after a prolonged illness. Irene was born on January 9, 1920 in Bloomington, to Frank & Clementine (Herbers) Bohnenkamp. She was the valedictorian of the 1937 graduating class of Bloomington High School. Irene married Albert Osterhaus on June 18, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Irene was employed for many years at the former
Bloomington State Bank. In retirement, she spent many
happy hours quilting with friends and spending time with her children and
grandchildren. She was devoted in her faith and was a
lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Irene is survived by her three children, Carol (Clark)
Bohnert of Pewaukee, Dennis (Jean) Osterhaus of Watertown, and Becky Steward
of Waukesha; four grandchildren, Tim (Julie) Osterhaus of Wauconda, IL,
Katie (Justin) Steward Naper of South Park, PA, Bryan Steward of Vail, CO,
and David (Doris) Osterhaus of Menominee Falls; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Breuer of
Glen Haven; a brother, Alfred Bohnenkamp of Lansing, IA; and a
sister-in-law, Doris Bohnenkamp of Prairie du Chien.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in
1997; her parents; a sister, Alice (Lawrence) Felder; and a brother, Vulmar
Bohnenkamp.
A Mass of Christian of Burial was held at 2:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington,
with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

P. Osterhaus
Roger P. Osterhaus,
85, of Bloomington, WI went home to our Lord on April 11, 2014.
He was born March 16, 1929 to Joseph and Rose (Wegmann)
Osterhaus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years,
Phyllis (Vopelak); son Daniel (Linda) Osterhaus of Bloomington;
daughter Kathleen (John) Slipek of Abbotsford; daughter Victoria
(Jeffrey) Crubel of Bloomington; son James Osterhaus of Alburqueque,
NM; and daughter Mary Jane Osterhaus (David Abbott) of Wisconsin
Rapids.
Roger took great joy in all his grandchildren:
RJ Osterhaus, Danny Jo (Osterhaus) Dill, Matthew Osterhaus,
Dominic Osterhaus, Isaac Slipek, Benjamin Slipek, Noelle Slipek,
Stephanie (Crubel) Zeeh, Molly (Crubel) Winkers, Kirby Crubel,
Clinton Crubel, Libby Rose Strub, Emma Strub and Hannah Strub.
Welcoming him in heaven his granddaughter Danielle Osterhaus.
He is also survived by his 8 great-grandchildren who loved
their Papa Roger.
Also surviving are brothers Paul (Charlene)
Osterhaus, Carl (Linda) Osterhaus, Donald (Mary) Osterhaus and
Joseph (Leona) Osterhaus and brother-in-law William Christianson.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sister
Myrtle Christianson, and by an infant brother.
Roger had a long career in farm implement sales
and service. He was co-owner and operator of
Farmers Implement Company of Bloomington. Though
his career was in the implement dealership, his true love, besides
his family, was farming. He continued to enjoy
farming after his retirement until a couple of years ago.
He was a member of the Board of Directors for Peoples State
Bank for over 25 years. Roger was also a member
of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years.
Roger will always be remembered by his family for
his example of unconditional love.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14,
2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. John
Meinholz officiating. Burial followed at
Bloomington Cemetery. Private visitation was held
for family only. All are welcome to gather
before the funeral service in church at 10:30 for the praying of the

Brad J. Oyen
Brad Joseph Oyen, 32,
beloved brother, son, and friend passed away December 28, 2013 after
an unprecedented 7 year battle with ocular melanoma.
Brad was a graduate of Potosi High School
and received his bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin
- Madison. He was thoroughly interested in politics and a die- hard
fan of Fox News Channel. When Brad traveled he would insist on
finding the best bargain available. He especially valued top rate
meals at low cost rates. He cherished the friends in his life, which
were numerous, and particularly fancied MOST intelligent company. He
had a life-long love affair with his cell phone and Harley V-Rod
motorcycle. He took extreme pride in his only nephew, Jaxon, whom he
lovingly mentored and taught to just be thankful. He sometimes went
against the grain, like being a Bear fan in Packer country. Brad was
realistic, hardworking, and had a witty, unpredictable sense of
humor. Brad was an inspiration for all of us and will be deeply
missed by all who knew him.
Brad is survived by his parents, Dale and
Nancy (Schiffman) Oyen; his brother, Joseph Oyen; sister-in-law to
be and special friend, Lacy Leibfried; and his beloved nephew, Jaxon
Oyen. He is further survived by his grandparents, Harry and Theresa
Schiffman; aunts and uncles, Diane (Alan) Bennett, Lori (Kevin)
Pond, Roger (Sadaya) Schiffman, Bob (Lisa) Schiffman, Rosie Oyen,
Doris Oyen, Phillip (Gracie) Oyen, Delores Oyen, Darlean (Gene)
Sabers, Rita Oyen, Cyril (Aleise) Oyen, La Verne (Marlene) Oyen,
Margaret (Gerry) Eastlick, Doris (Peter) Neis, Betty (Ronald)
Richardson, Jim Oyen; and many cousins and life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his great
grandmother, Dorothy Menne; grandparents, Peter and Celestine Oyen;
and uncles, Harold Oyen, Eldon Oyen, Nilus Oyen, and Ronnie Oyen.

a.m. on Thursday, Jan 2, 2014, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in
Tennyson, with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St.
Andrew Cemetery. Friends called from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday,
January 1, 2014, at the church, and one hour prior to the service

Nilus B. Oyen
Nilus B. Oyen, age 76, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at his home in Lancaster. He was born on August 16, 1933, in Sinsinawa Mound Township, the son of Peter and Celestine (Brink) Oyen. His family moved to Potosi, where he helped on the farm and also drove milk truck for Potosi Cheese Factory. In 1948, Nilus entered the United States Navy, serving his country until his honorable discharge. On May 16, 1953, he was united in marriage to Delores Lebben at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tennyson. Together, the couple farmed in Potosi and in later years, they moved to Lancaster where the couple farmed and Nilus did carpenter work.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Oyen, Lancaster; eight children: Mike (Sue) Oyen, Lancaster; Peg (Bill) Bast, Lancaster; Dennis Oyen, Stitzer; Ann (Jim) Robbins, Fennimore; Steve (Kathy) Oyen, Fennimore; Sue Oyen, Baraboo; Greg (Dee) Oyen, Fennimore; Ellen (Jay) Winkler, Lancaster; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Eldon (Doris) Oyen, Dubuque, IA; Philip (Grace) Oyen, Potosi; Darlene (Eugene) Sabers, Dubuque, IA; Cyril (Aleise) Oyen, Potosi; LaVerne (Marlene) Oyen, Potosi; Margaret (Gerald) Eastlick, Potosi; Doris (Peter) Neis, Dickeyville; Betty (Gary) Peacock, Potosi; Ruth (Ronald) Richardson, Platteville; Jim Oyen, Potosi; Dale (Nancy) Oyen, Potosi; his sisters-in-law: Rosie Oyen, Potosi; and Rita Oyen, Lancaster.
